I don't like to be called that
The lips of a family member speak the words, "Idiot! You are so stupid! I hate you!" You hear that and it makes your heart hurt. You hear that and you don't know if they really meant it or not. You continue to go about your day and you realize that they really didn't mean it and in the end you are family and they will always love you no matter what because they can't hate you for long. You know that with a family member, but do you know that with a friend?
Do you know for certain that if they call you a name that they really mean it or not? You step on a friends foot as a joke forgetting that her toe is hurt the words escaping her lips aren't the nicest one's you've ever heard. She yelled at you, "YOU IDIOT MY TOE IS HURT!" And as if that wasn't enough she tags on at the end, "YOU BITCH!" You are shocked and hurt you don't know how to respond and you sure don't know what to say, but you act like it doesn't matter. You act like everything is fine, when inside you are puzzled and a little surprised. It took you awhile to get over that, but it still stings when you think about it.
Then today you were in English class and a boy behind you hands you a piece of paper; his essay. You hand it to Naomi because you think that he needed it to be handed in when you sit back down he says, "What did you do that for?!" And you explain to him your reasoning, but unfortunately he doesn't see your side and he continues saying, "No that's not right you DUMB-ASS!" You make a face at him and turn around. You don't understand how anybody could call someone such horrible names and you don't understand how they have any friends. You are mad at him as well as embarrassed and ashamed because you seem to have let him down. You get the paper back and look it over anyway.
I don't like to be called dumb-ass, idiot, or bitch. I just hate those words and it hurts me inside to know that if I hate them so much but I've called people that before.... I'm ashamed to say not to their faces. I hate name calling and from now on I am going to stop...... Just stop. And if you are the person to call people those awful names please change because nobody wants to be called a dumb-ass or bitch. I know you may say you don't care but do you really not care? Take a look deep within yourself, look yourself in the eye, and say, "I don't really care." I can guarantee that most of us do care and we just put on a front. Take it down and live.
